David Humphreys House Logo Redesign
This logo is a redesign of the Derby Historical Society’s logo. It was done for an assignment where we chose a random organization and redesigned its logo. This was an exercise to improve our knowledge of logos and brand design.
The primary application used to design this logo was Illustrator.
While I went through this project, I learned how to design a logo and what brand design is. As Such, the skills I gained from this project were essential in my graphic design career.
Logo Process
For this project, the idea was to create a new logo for an existing company. This helped us develop our brand identity skills and learn what to consider when designing a logo.
I decided to redesign the logo of the Derby Historical Society because I didn’t like their current logo.
To start, I looked into what my organization is passionate about and what they do. This information gave me a starting point on what to prioritize in the design.
For the primary image, I chose to base it on David Humphreys’ house since it is a recognizable landmark in the organization.
After I finished with the imagery, I worked on the text. For this, I wanted an old-looking font to reflect the value of preserving history.
As for the color palette, I chose to use the colors of the uniform from the Revolutionary War.
