Woodcut Prints

A woodcut print is made by carving away the negative space. This makes it so the ink only sticks to the highest point when rolled on. Once the ink is applied, the paper is firmly pressed onto the inked wood to transfer the ink.

This method of printing is a test of patience. It takes a while to carve out the design, prepare the paper and ink, and print. However, I will admit that it’s nice to slow down and enjoy the process.
